Our themes for 2012 include: Looking Good - featuring great winning films from international festivals; Sounding Good - interesting films featuring music; Feeling Good? - a range of uplifitng films about dealing with illness and adversity; Feeling Really Good! - a selection of the very best in recent comedy films from around the world.
Words by the Water Literature Festival

Words by the Water in Keswick, Cumbria is the north west of England's premier literature festival. The Theatre by the Lake in Keswick, Cumbria is the centre for this exciting literature festival organised by Ways With Words. For 10 days writers and readers get together to share the pleasure of books, words and ideas. There will be talks, lectures, discussions, workshops, book launches and special exhibitions.
With appearances from Melvyn Bragg; labour MP and former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling; the evolutionary biologist and presenter of the Channel 4 program 'Inside Nature's Giants'; screenwriter & creator of ‘Downton Abbey’, Jessica Fellowes;
and the BBC’s legendary broadcast journalist Michael Buerk to name but a few.
Malcolm Wilson Rally

The Malcolm Wilson Rally is organised by the Morecambe Car Club, Kirkby Lonsdale Motor Club & West Cumbria Motorsport Club. The race provides 45 miles of rallying on the classic Lakes Stages, maintained in excellent condition by the Forestry Commission.

The Jazz Festival will be coming of age in style with more than 100 jazz events packed into the four festival days from 3 – 6 May 2012. Nearly 100 different bands and star guests will be there, including an impressive international contingent.
Cockermouth Georgian Fair

Cockermouth celebrates its Georgian origins by bringing the historic past to life across the town at the Cokerouth Georgian Fair. There will be a Period Crafts and Farmers Street Market, traditional dancing and music, street theatre, circus skills, sedan chair racing, Redcoat marching displays, exhibitions, craft demonstrations and a costume parade. As well as special events at Wordsworth House and Streetlife 1778 - unique discovery walks from the Castle to Wordsworth House.
Keswick Half Marathon

Keswick Half Marathon is said to be one of the most scenic half marathons in the country. The challenging course takes you around Derwentwater with an extra loop into the Newlands valley.
